Loosely based on true events, Winston the Scardey-dog is a hilarious story about a dog with irrational fears and his friends who help him build up his courage. Winston is a normal dog who encounters a terrifying monster (a toad) Winston tells his sister, and together they confront the monster, his many friends, and their devious leader (a frog). The Frog wants to be the favorite pet, and he will do anything to achieve that. The bizarre story was first formed when around seven year old Alex (the author) witnessed his dog (Winston) react in a funny way to a toad. Alex wrote a somewhat confusing comic about this event that ended up becoming a far more confusing series. By the time Alex was eleven he decided to rewrite the story in a better, more easy to understand, children’s novel. Years later, he edited it and was still quite fond of his story leading to him publishing it just for fun. The Story combines fun real world elements with crazy narratives and silly characters based on his real pets.
