Foreigners Controlling Telecoms Sector Colossal Deception Colossal Deception: How Foreigners Control Our Telecoms Sector

Telecommunications play a vital role in our daily lives, connecting individuals and businesses across the globe. It is an industry that holds immense power, enabling instant communication and the transfer of vast amounts of data. However, a colossal deception has taken place, one that has allowed foreign entities to gain control over our telecoms sector without our knowledge.

At first glance, it may seem like a harmless investment; foreign companies injecting capital and expertise into our telecommunications infrastructure. But the reality is far more sinister. These corporations, often backed by their respective governments, have strategically maneuvered to gain control over critical aspects of our telecoms networks, putting our national security and privacy at risk.

The Trojan Horse in Foreign Investment

The tactic employed by these foreign entities is twofold. Firstly, they enter our telecoms market under the veil of foreign investment. They offer financial contributions and promise to help develop our telecommunications infrastructure, making it seem like a mutually beneficial arrangement. However, there is an ulterior motive at play - control.

Slowly but surely, these foreign players start acquiring significant stakes in our telecoms companies. They position themselves on the board of directors, influencing decision-making processes and having the final say on critical matters. What may seem like an innocuous business move can quickly turn into a situation where foreigners have the power to dictate the operations of our telecoms sector.

Foreign Control Over Telecoms A Clear And Present Threat To National Security Colossal Deception: How Foreigners Control Our Telecoms Sector

The Threat to National Security

The implications of foreign control over our telecoms sector are far-reaching and pose a significant threat to our national security. With access to our communications infrastructure, these foreign entities can potentially gain access to sensitive data, intercept communications, and even disrupt our networks in times of conflict.

Imagine a scenario where a foreign power has control over our telecoms networks during a crisis or conflict. They could easily sabotage our communications, leaving us vulnerable and handicapped. Our military operations, emergency services, and even intelligence agencies could be compromised, all due to the devious maneuvers of these foreign entities.

Data Privacy Concerns In A Controlled Telecoms Sector Colossal Deception: How Foreigners Control Our Telecoms Sector

Data Privacy Concerns

Aside from the national security implications, foreign control over our telecoms sector also raises concerns about data privacy. When foreign entities are in control, there is no guarantee that our personal information, sensitive business data, or even government intelligence won't be mishandled, exploited, or shared without our consent.

Our privacy is crucial in the digital age, and with foreign control over our telecoms, we risk exposing ourselves to surveillance, data breaches, and cyber-attacks. The consequences can be far-reaching, affecting not only individuals but also businesses and government entities across the nation.

An Uphill Battle Ahead

Addressing the issue of foreign control over our telecoms sector is no easy task. It requires a multi-faceted approach that involves government oversight, increased transparency, and stringent regulatory measures. The battle to regain control over our critical infrastructure may be uphill, but it is a battle worth fighting.

By raising awareness about this colossal deception, we can push for stricter regulations, encourage more research and development within our own nation, and promote the importance of national security and data privacy. Our telecoms sector should not be controlled by foreign interests, and it is time to take a stand to protect our sovereignty.

The truth about foreign control over our telecoms sector is a bitter pill to swallow. It is a colossal deception that has gone unnoticed for too long. However, by shedding light on this issue, we can work towards reclaiming control over our telecommunications infrastructure and safeguarding our national security and data privacy.

Together, we can expose this deception and ensure that our telecoms sector remains in the hands of those who truly have the best interests of our nation at heart. The time to act is now.

A Case Study Of Corruption, Cronyism And Regulatory Capture In The Philippines
By Rigoberto D. Tiglao

The book exposes one of the biggest deceptions ever foisted on the Philippine nation, the total domination of our telecommunications industry by foreigners and its deliberate concealment. This is a grave violation of the Philippine Constitution, a fact that was ignored by the Aquino administration when it chose to side with foreign interests instead of following a Supreme Court order to stop the foreign control of a strategic public utility.

While claiming to be majority-owned by Filipinos, the reality is that the biggest stockholder of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., which operates Smart Communications, is the Indonesian billionaire and former Suharto crony Anthoni Salim with his minor partner the giant Japanese telco NTT. Globe Telecom's biggest stockholder on the other hand is the Singaporean state firm Singtel. With their lucrative duopoly the foreign firms have remitted out of the Philippines gargantuan profits totaling $9 billion from 2000 to 2015.

How are these foreign firms able to bypass the constitutional limit on foreign control of public utilities with little resistance from the Philippine body politic? This book exposes the chicanery behind the acquisition of the country's biggest corporations, the corruption and cronyism that had allowed this to happen, and the pernicious plot to amend the Constitution to perpetuate the foreign control of companies over vital sectors of our economy.
