Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Spiff, there lived a peculiar prince named Puggly. Unlike the charming and dashing princes commonly found in fairy tales, Prince Puggly was known for his round shape, unkempt hair, and a mischievous glint in his eyes. He was a free-spirited and adventurous soul who never shied away from a thrilling quest or a misadventure.

The Kingdom of Spiff, a realm of grandeur and opulence, was ruled by King Bartholomew. The royal family had long been admired and revered for their regal appearances, extravagant parties, and impeccable manners. However, Prince Puggly was the complete opposite. He detested formality, tuxedos, and etiquette lessons. His heart yearned for thrilling escapades, stinky cheese sandwiches, and unexplored territories.

One fine morning, as the palace awoke to the rising sun, Prince Puggly stumbled upon a secret passage hidden behind a dusty old bookshelf. Curiosity consumed him, and without hesitation, he decided to venture into the unknown. Little did he know that this impulsive decision would change his fate forever.

The secret passage led him to the uncharted territory of Spud, a neighboring kingdom known for its potato fields and rustic charm. At first, Puggly was taken aback by the simplicity and humble nature of the place. But soon, he discovered hidden beauty in their simplicity. The people in Spud were warm-hearted, content, and celebrated life's little joys.

As Prince Puggly roamed the scenic lands of Spud, he encountered a group of misfit adventurers who were also exploring the region. There was Sir Oliver, a knight whose armor was perpetually falling apart; Lady Cordelia, a mysterious sorceress with a quirky aura; and Winston, a talking squirrel who had seen more of the world than anyone could imagine.

The unlikely gang formed an unbreakable bond, and together they embarked on thrilling quests, solving riddles, and battling mighty creatures that lurked in the shadows. Prince Puggly, in his unconventional ways, brought a sense of spontaneity and joy to their journeys, while his companions provided guidance and protection.

During their adventures, they stumbled upon a sinister plot by an evil sorcerer who aimed to cast a dark spell upon the Kingdom of Spiff. The sorcerer, envious of the grandeur and prosperity of Spiff, sought to dethrone King Bartholomew and rule both kingdoms with an iron fist.

Determined to save his home kingdom and the newfound family he deeply cherished, Prince Puggly hatched a plan to outwit the sorcerer. With the help of his loyal friends and the ingenious problem-solving skills he possessed, they devised a cunning strategy to expose the sorcerer's deceit and restore peace to both Spiff and Spud.

The climactic battle between good and evil ensued, with Prince Puggly surprising everyone with his bravery and cleverness. In the end, the sorcerer was defeated, and the kingdoms rejoiced in their newfound unity and friendship. The once divided kingdoms were now united in a bond that celebrated diversity and highlighted the value of each unique individual.

The tale of Prince Puggly of Spud and the Kingdom of Spiff is a timeless story of adventure, friendship, and embracing one's true self. It teaches us that appearances can be deceiving and that true heroes come in all shapes and sizes. In a world often obsessed with perfection and conformity, this tale reminds us to embrace our quirks and follow our hearts, for it is in those moments that we discover our true potential.

So, dear reader, let us remember Prince Puggly's name and the remarkable journey he undertook. Let us celebrate the unconventional and the extraordinary, for it is in these tales that we find inspiration, hope, and a little bit of magic.

The next middle-grade rhyming novel from the award-winning author of Zorgamazoo!

Prince Puggly of the muddy, terminally unfashionable Kingdom of Spud is surprised when he receives an invitation to a lavish ball in the far more chic Kingdom of Spiff. Puggly is sure that the Spiffs will take one look at him and laugh him out of their kingdom. And that’s exactly what they do. . . . But then Puggly meets Francesca, the bookish Princess of Spiff, and together the two set out to teach Francesca’s Spiffian countrymen an absurd lesson in style. Award-winning author Robert Paul Weston once again delivers a humorous fantasy in rhyming verse that just begs to be read aloud. And this time, it comes with a message that’s sure to impress: There’s more to a person than how they are dressed.
