Once upon a chilly Christmas Eve, while all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse, Santa Claus was busy delivering presents. He had been flying on his magical sleigh from house to house, making sure all the children received their gifts. But little did he know, an unexpected situation was about to arise.

The Unexpected Bathroom Break

As the night went on and Santa traveled across the globe, his reindeer suddenly started to act restless. They were flying slower than usual and seemed to be struggling to maintain their usual stamina. Santa could sense that something was off.

With each passing house, Santa's need to relieve himself grew stronger. He had been drinking hot cocoa and eating cookies all night to keep him energized, but now he regretted not taking a bathroom break before setting off on his journey.

As Santa approached a small town, he knew he couldn't ignore the call of nature any longer. He desperately searched for a suitable place to land his sleigh, hoping to find a bathroom nearby. To his dismay, there was nothing but snow-covered rooftops and empty streets.

Thinking quickly, Santa realized that he had no choice but to land on one of the rooftops and find a discrete spot to relieve himself. After all, it was an emergency and Christmas couldn't be put on hold!

The Fortunate Misfortune

As Santa hopped off his sleigh onto the rooftop, he scanned the area for a hidden spot. To his astonishment, he noticed a small chimney protruding from the roof. It was the perfect cover for his unexpected bathroom break.

As Santa climbed down the chimney, he found himself in a cozy living room filled with Christmas decorations. He tiptoed to the nearest washroom, letting out a sigh of relief as he finally got some much-needed relief.

Little did Santa know, he had accidentally stumbled into the home of the Smith family. They were a lovely family who had been eagerly awaiting his arrival. The children, Tom and Lucy, had been sleeping upstairs as Santa made his entrance.

As Santa finished his business and made his way back up the chimney, he couldn't help but notice the neatly wrapped presents under the tree. Realizing his lucky escape, Santa decided to leave a small gift for each family member as a token of his gratitude.

A Christmas Surprise

The next morning, the Smith family woke up to find Santa's unexpected gifts. They were filled with joy and wonder, unable to understand how Santa had managed to enter their house without them noticing.

Tom and Lucy were especially excited to find personalized letters from Santa, thanking them for their hospitality and apologizing for his unexpected entrance. It was a magical Christmas surprise that the Smith family would never forget.

As for Santa, he continued his journey throughout the night, finally finding a suitable bathroom break at the North Pole. From that night on, Santa always made sure to take a bathroom break before setting off on his Christmas deliveries.

Will Christmas be ruined this year, or will it be a clean getaway for Santa?

Find out in this hilarious and sweet reimagining of Clement C. Moore's classic poem, that is sure to delight both children and their parents alike!

This is a beautifully illustrated and unique take on the classic poem that is sure to put a smile on everyones face this Christmas!

Please not an alternate cover version of this book is also available.

A word from the author:

"I absolutely loved Clement C. Moore's poem as a child, but when I grew up and tried to read it to my own children, they did not share my enthusiasm. The book is truly a classic but also a little outdated, but one of my children's biggest gripes was the absence of Rudolph. Poor Clement...he wasn't to know. I felt sad that they couldn't share in my enjoyment of the original, especially as it is is the only story to name all the rendeer (well minus one), so I vowed to try and rewrite this story whilst breathing new life into it. Now tackling what it without a doubt the most famous poem in the English language was not a task that I undertook lightly, but it has been given the seal of approval from my little ones, and I truly belief I have created something original, sweet and funny, whilst maintaining the essence of the original.

This year, more than most, we need a little festive cheer. So with that in mind, I hope you enjoy the book, and wish you all a Merry Christmas!"

5 STARS! ★★★★★

In ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas (and Santa Needed A Poo) by Paul Wennersberg-Løvholen, children and parents are asleep as they wait for Santa Claus to bring them their presents. They hung up their stockings and left out cookies, while the elves in the North Pole were rushing to get everything together for Santa’s flight. Ignoring his wife's words, Santa Claus left on his flight without going to the bathroom first. He traveled through Australia, Japan, and Norway, eating all the snacks he could along the way, and soon not only was he full, but he needed to go. The only problem was that he had no idea where he could take a poop. Unable to find a proper place, Santa had an accident and no longer felt so merry anymore. Having to take off his suit, Santa continued with his delivery without any clothes. During one of his present deliveries, he found two children staring at him in shock. Despite no clothes, they knew who it was and were happy to see Santa Claus. When he told the kids what happened, they didn’t hesitate and proceeded to help him find some clothes. He picked out a pretty dress that the kids said looked perfect on him, and then he was on his way to finishing the rest of his deliveries.

I thought ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas (and Santa Needed A Poo) by Paul Wennersberg-Løvholen was a hilarious take on Clement C. Moore's poem. There was a comical feel to it that children will definitely enjoy. I also think it teaches children a valuable lesson. Accidents happen and they can happen to anyone, even someone like Santa Claus. It also shows how meaningful being kind can be. The brother and sister who caught Santa naked didn’t have to help him, but they did and it meant a lot to him. The illustrations are also beautifully done and fit with the story perfectly. ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas (and Santa Needed A Poo) is definitely a great read for the holiday season.
