Did you know that the world's largest land animal, the African elephant, is capable of recognizing itself in a mirror? Only a handful of species are known to possess self-awareness, and elephants are among them.

This Mexican salamander has the remarkable ability to regenerate entire limbs, spinal cord, heart, and even parts of its brain.
